Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our principal
At Cowan Public School, I believe every child has the potential to grow, achieve and thrive. We're a small school with a strong community spirit, where every student is known, valued and supported.
Our dedicated staff are passionate about creating an inclusive, engaging and supportive learning environment. We focus on student growth and wellbeing, using explicit teaching, meaningful learning experiences and student voice to guide our work. Whether students need extra support or extension through our High potential and gifted education (HPGE) strategies, we tailor our approach to help each child succeed.
Equity and inclusion are at the heart of what we do, and we work closely with families to ensure no student is left behind. I’m proud to lead a team that genuinely cares about our students and works hard every day to help them reach their potential.
I invite you to explore our website and discover what makes Cowan Public School such a special place to learn and grow. I look forward to welcoming you to our school community.

Exceptional Teachers Who Make a Lasting Impact
At the heart of our school are dedicated teachers who genuinely care about every student’s growth. They create safe, inclusive and engaging classrooms where every child is known, valued and supported to thrive, either academically, socially and emotionally. Our small school setting allows for individual attention and strong, trusting relationships between students and teachers.
Tailored Learning for Every Child
Our teachers use evidence-based teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners. They personalise lessons, offer targeted support and adjust their approaches to suit different learning styles. Whether a student needs additional help or extra challenge, our teachers ensure each child reaches their full potential.
Highly Qualified, Accredited and Connected Educators
Our teaching staff are part of a strong, state-wide network through the NSW Department of Education. Many hold advanced accreditations and bring specialist expertise to the classroom. With access to the latest curriculum resources, research and professional development, they deliver consistently high-quality education.
Lifelong Learners Who Lead by Example
Our teachers are committed to continuous improvement. Through regular professional development, collaboration with peers and reflection on practice, they stay up to date with the latest teaching methods and educational innovations. Their passion for learning inspires students to become curious, confident learners themselves.
Wellbeing and support staff
At our school, student wellbeing, learning needs and inclusion are everyone's responsibility. All staff work together to create a welcoming, supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued and able to thrive. We collaborate closely with parents, carers, therapists, the school counsellor and other specialists to make personalised adjustments, ensuring every student can fully participate in school life.

Additional learning support
We are committed to providing inclusive education that meets the needs of all students. Our school offers dedicated support for students with disability or additional learning needs through a specialised support unit on site. This unit is staffed by experienced professionals who work closely with classroom teachers, families and external specialists to create personalised learning plans. Together, we ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially and emotionally in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
